The Langford Lads

The Langford Lads are a sonically stunning trio where the intersection of Irish and American Folk music meets in a tapestry of tone that is woven in wood and wire. Our performances blend lively instrumentals, heartfelt vocals, and engaging storytelling that captivate audiences of all ages. Our repertoire is vibrant and varied—ranging from toe-tapping reels/jigs to soulful ballads, featuring both instrumental and vocals.

Our shows are known for their informal, engaging vibe, with plenty of energy, spontaneous banter, and a strong connection with the audience. More than just a concert, it’s a shared experience.

The Dogwood Center for Performing Arts wrote on social media, “We just had the most incredible band perform tonight. The Langford Lads! The energy, talent, and passion they brought to the stage was truly unforgettable. Who else loves discovering new music and supporting local artists?”

Gail Brechting, the conductor of the West Michigan Concert Winds said, “"The Langford Lads are three professional musicians that have honed their craft!  To collaborate with them on one of our Summer Concerts was fantastic!  We were able to not only perform on the same concert, but perform together on a piece for Concert Band & the Langford Lads!  Custom designed to entertain the audiences!  What a thrill!

The performance sparked a deep passion in Larry, inspiring him to master the intricate techniques of the Irish whistle. This dedication is evident in his unique style, which he has honed in his two bands, Uneven Ground and The Langford Lads.

Larry's dedication to mastering the tin whistle and flute has led him to receive lessons from some of Ireland's leading performers and instructors. His commitment to the craft has enriched his musical style and contributed to preserving and promoting traditional Irish music. Larry's expertise is now shared through his whistle training programs, offered at prestigious institutions such as Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the Michigan Irish Music Festival, as well as through private lessons and school workshops.
